Surfers Not Street Children is an award-winning organisation founded in Durban, South Africa, in 1998. We empower children and young people at risk of street-connectedness, as well as those already living on the streets, to transform their lives through programmes that combine surfing, mentorship and care.

For nearly three decades, we have used surfing as a powerful way to engage young people, create a sense of belonging and provide a positive diversion from street life in Durban. Today, our programmes operate in Durban, South Africa, and Tofo, Mozambique, supported by our advocacy and support hub in the UK and a 501(c)(3) affiliate in the United States.

We are also committed to global advocacy around the phenomenon of street-connected children and young people, using our experience on the ground to challenge perceptions, raise awareness and advocate for approaches that help children build lives away from the streets.
