The ‘Girls Surf Too’ Program Targets the urgent needs of girls living at great risk of street connectedness in the notorious Point Area of Durban, South Africa.
Our outreach team visit and identify girls in need whom are living in dangerous, low budget hostels. The girls are assisted and encouraged to join the program.
designed by our Programs Co-ordinator S’lindile Ngema, This program operates in Durban at both the Surf Club and the Surf House. The Surf House is our head quarters and acts as an emergency care facility for girls in desperate need.
The girls engage in surfing and other beach activities whilst building trusting relationships with our social workers. Their needs are assessed and they are provided with protection and empowerment.
